Permitted development rights

Most people in the industry will now be aware that earlier this year the government introduced new Permitted Development Rights allowing for change of use from offices to residential (B1 to C3) in some circumstances. This right will last for a period of 3 years, between 30 May 2013 and 30 May 2016, and is subject to a prior approval process.

What is interesting is that they are now apparently considering further changes to Permitted Development Rights involving allowing shops to change to residential and also agricultural buildings being allowed to change to residential.
