Should we have more pedestrianisation in Bath?

I was just walking down Green St and cannot really understand why it has not been pedestrianised. Surely it would be a great place to restrict vehicle access for the exclusive use of pedestrians during the day and create some outdoor eating areas. Such areas are rather few and far between in Bath and this street seems to be the ideal place for a vibrant new location for the City centre.I would be interested to know whether the businesses in Green St would welcome such an idea?

Like all such issues I am sure there are other factors that need to be considered but perhaps a more coherent strategy from BANES for the City centre is needed so that retailers can have confidence that deliveries, waste collections and other such matters are dealt with efficiently and businesses are unaffected.
